X Factor champion Joe McElderry is preparing to release his fourth album (fourth! Where did the time go?!). It’s called Here’s What I Believe and we’ve got the details for you!
The Popstar to Operastar winner has been testing the waters of songwriting for the first time and is very happy with the results: “The first song I wrote, ‘What Have I Done’, got picked up for the album straight away. The label liked it and that gave me a bit of confidence. I’ve got three tracks on the album which is quite a big deal considering I’ve not written before.”
The title track, ‘Here’s What I Believe’, will be the first Joe-penned track we hear when it’s released as a download preview on 10 August, and the Newcastle singer is a little nervous about the public’s reaction: “It’s one of my first attempts. I hope people like it because I can’t blame it on somebody else now!”
Mr McElderry also had some stern words for X Factor contestants who try to ditch their roots! “I’m always proud of where I came from on X Factor. People who slate it really annoy me. They used that show and got 20 million people watching them and that’s how they’re selling albums. Without that show I wouldn’t have been able to do Popstar to Operastar or be on to this new album. I never try to get rid of it, I just try and progress from it.’
Here’s What I Believe is released on September 10, and includes a cover of Demi Lovato’s ‘Skyscraper’.
