Alexandra Burke goes retro with ‘Let It Go’ lyric video
1Comment
Alexandra Burke has uploaded a retro-style lyric video for her new single ‘Let It Go’, complete with a multi-coloured disco-like dancefloor. The chorus has a catchy chant similar to Britney Spears’ ‘Till The World Ends’, and we definitely think it’s a step up from ‘Elephant’. OK, so the lyrics may not be the most imaginative in the world, but good luck getting the infectious chorus out of your head…

Alexandra Burke performs ‘Elephant’ live for the Radio 1 chart show
Guys. There’s an elephant in the room. Oh, wait, it’s just Reggie Yates in a mask. Back to the important matters at hand – after sliding straight into the Number 3 spot yesterday, Alexandra Burke joined Reggie in BBC Radio 1′s Official Chart show studio for a brilliant live performance of new single ‘Elephant’.
The MP! verdict? Hearing The Burke use her impressive voice over the original instrumental is definitely much better than that slightly dodgy acoustic “Breathless” version of the track – and we have to admit we cracked a smile when she started rocking out during the dance sections. But the real question is, are we ever going to get a performance in that studio that doesn’t involve Reggie doing a stupid dance?

Alexandra Burke performs Elephant acoustic
There’s no doubt that Alexandra Burke can still hit the notes and tell the story with her incredibly animated face – and whilst this is technically an enjoyable acoustic performance of her brand new single ‘Elephant’ (still funny), it proves that the song is definitely not the right track to elevate her to the levels of super stardom that we’ve always thought she deserved. It’s good, but it’s not so exciting that our hair stands on end and our hearts stop.
The “Breathless” version of ‘Elephant’ will be included as a b-side on the single when it is released on March 11th, which you can pre-order here. Watch the acoustic video below.
