Rihanna already working on her next album?
First of all – happy birthday to Rihanna! The singer turns the big 2-4 today and she’s already recieved bucket loads of birthday messages – including one from ex Chris Brown who’s rumoured to be appearing on the brand new version of ‘Birthday Cake’ released this week.
And how did she celebrate? By working, of course. Rihanna tweeted about her crazy all-nighter in London, which included rehearsals for her upcoming performance at the BRIT Awards, before claiming that she’s set up a studio in her hotel room. “I’ll be turning 24 making mu$ic!!!”
Which naturally begs the question, what exactly is she recording for? With last album Talk That Talk not making as big an impression as the likes of Loud or Good Girl Gone Bad, is the non-stop Rihanna already working on a brand new release for her “Navy”?
Keep your eyes on Maximum Pop! for more on this as it happens – and listen to the original version of ‘Birthday Cake’ below.
Should Rihanna take a much-needed break from releasing music?

Rihanna’s dirty collaboration, Kanye’s fashion plans, Coldplay’s Brit Awards duet and JLS’s “new jack swing” – gossip!
Brit Awards host James Corden has let slip that Coldplay frontman Chris Martin will be teaming up with Noel Gallagher at the ceremony in a few weeks. Noel Gallagher’s group High Flying Birds are just one of the several performers at the awards, taking place in London on February 21. Have our dreams of Coldplay teaming up with Rihanna for ‘Princess Of China’ been ruined already?
Speaking of the Brit Awards, nominees JLS have been dishing even more dirt on their new album. The group have been working on the record in the US alongside acclaimed producers Babyface and Rodney ‘Darkchild’ Jerkins and have apparently been working on “throwback 90′s new jack swing” – a far cry from the dancier stuff we’ve been hearing from them recently. Don’t forget to read our guide to the new JLS album for even more gossip.
As we revealed yesterday, Rihanna has been hinting at a brand new and exciting collaboration for her track ‘Birthday Cake’. Ri wants a “dirrrty” pop star for the collab, which many took as a hint that she was after Christina Aguilera – but Rihanna has since insisted that the guest star needs to be a dude. Who do you think she should enlist?
You may have noticed that a certain Mr West has been quiet of late, well now we know it’s all for good reason. The rapper has put music to one side for the moment and is currently hard at work on his fashion line. The new collection will be debuted at Paris Fashion Week, although his womenswear last year was met with mixed reviews. Maybe stick to the music ‘Ye?

5 things you need to know about The Brit Awards 2012
Comment
WHAT?
The biggest and best music awards show in the UK. The one that is always equal parts awful and amazing. The one where Geri Halliwell walked out of an inflatable fanny and wore that iconic tea-towel dress. That’s it, it’s The Brits. And it’s back, 21st February at London’s the O2 and being broadcast sort-of live.
WHO’S NOMINATED?
Lots of people in lots of categories – most of which you don’t care about. The people with the most nods? That’ll be Ed Sheeran (4), Jessie J (3), Adele (3), Florence + The Machine (2), Emeli Sandé (2) and Coldplay (2). Full nominations here.
WHO’S PRESENTING?
Unfathomably inaccurately labelled ‘comedian’ James Corden returns to present the awards.
WHERE’S THE DRAMA?
The Best British Single award nominations are decided by sales and radio airplay, rather than 1,000 definitely-not snobby industry types who pick everything else, and therefore reflect what people spend their dosh on and listen to. In that category you’ll find find familiar faces like JLS, The Wanted, Pixie Lott, One Direction, Olly Murs and Example, amongst others. The winner of this award is decided by public vote, which opens later today here. Let the madness begin.
WHO’S PERFORMING ON THE NIGHT?
For 84 million reasons Adele’s back for more, and her supporting cast will include Bruno Mars (oh), Coldplay (oh), Ed Sheeran (ekk), Florence + The Machine (ahh), Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds (eh?) and the Outstanding Contribution to Music-winning Blur (erm). Never mind, you can always watch MP:TV instead.
