Despite the fact that it actually had some really strong tracks on it, Cheryl Cole’s last album ended up being a bit of a laughing stock, thanks to uninspired lyrics (who can forget the classic, “You were the tree and I was the apple”?), cheap production and really dodgy vocals – but with her third solo album expected later this year, we decided to do the research and find out if there’s any chance she might turn it all around. The answer? In short, it looks like she’s got a good shot.

BBC Radio 1′s Hackney Weekend: POP DIARY

David Guetta & Nicki Minaj – Turn Me On – Alarm Pop
We got sent David Guetta’s Nothing But The Beat album in the post last year and we had it on repeat for many weeks in the MP! office – but one of the stand out tracks was always the dance-floor ready ‘Turn Me On’ featuring vocal duties from Queen of features Nicki Minaj.
Gaga’s producer complained that this song is basically a rip-off of Rihanna’s ‘Only Girl (In The World)’ and whilst he’s right, we don’t think that’s a reason not to enjoy it. With those familiar Guetta beats and a thrilling singing performance from Minaj, MP! HQ is overrun with the sound of feet tapping whenever this track starts to play.
