P!nk’s back, new Aiden Grimshaw single, Olly Murs takes on America, Showcase Live and Lawson’s debut album!
1Comment
P!nk has announced her return to pop in this video where she used her croaky tones to inform us that her new single, co-written with Greg Kurstin (Lily Allen, Kelly Clarkson, The Wanted), is called ‘Blow Me (One Last Kiss)’. The song will be released July 9th and is taken from the pop-rocker’s sixth studio album.
Glossy-haired pop icon Aiden Grimshaw’s following up his top 35 *smash*debut ‘Is This Love’ with a new single ‘Curtain Call’ on August 12th, followed by album Misty Eyes a week later. Aiden’s described the theme of the album as follows: “life is worth living, but love is worth everything”. *cries a river* Have you got any tissues?
Hat loving pop star Olly Murs has announced plans for his debut US album which combines tracks from his first two European releases. In Case You Didn’t Know will be released September 25th and will follow debut single ‘Heart Skips A Beat’ featuring Rizzle Kicks Chiddy Bang. See the complete track-list here.
Showcase Live Goss 1: *Confusing pop world collision alert* Team MP! went to London pop gig Showcase Live on Monday and saw Ed Drewett and his loveable drunken family watch MP! favourite Tich perform ‘Glad You Came’ – a song he wrote for The Wanted. And what did Ed think? He thought she was “blinkin amazing”. Check out Ed’s free download ‘Good Morning’ here.
Showcase Live Goss 2: Later that same night Professor Green and girlfriend Millie Wot Is In Made In Chelsea watched on as Ed performed tracks from his debut album. Ed previously did the sing-y bits on Green’s track ‘Need You Tonight’. We also spotted The Loveable Rogues, Dionne Bromfield and errr… Jay That Used To Be In S Club Jnrs making up the numbers.
Lawson’s Andy has let us know what we can expect from the boys’ debut album – songs about his breakup from Mollie The Sats. He said: “The vast majority of the songs on the album are about heartbreak, and which I wrote after my relationship ended” . Of new single ‘Taking Over Me’ he said “I felt it was important that we had a song on there about the good times as well as the sad”. Seriously, HAS ANYONE GOT ANY TISSUES?

Ed Drewett: Alarm Pop song of the day! Free download!
‘Glad You Came’ songwriter (and all-round pop babe) Ed Drewett has trailed his upcoming debut album with an exciting free download for fans.
Ed, who also wrote ‘All Time Low’ and ‘Lightning’ for The Wanted, has been working hard in the studio and released his first single ‘Champagne Lemonade’ last year. The keen-eyed amongst you may also recognise his face (and voice!) from Professor Green’s ‘Need You Tonight’.
Ed’s new song, ‘Good Morning’, is summery, catchy and atmospheric and just a couple of clicks away from landing in your iTunes library for precisely zero pence. We’re looking forward to hearing more from Ed this year!

Dappy’s girlfriend’s tattoos, Lady Gaga’s tour news, Ed Drewett’s teases and Nicki Minaj’s demands – gossip!
Nicki Minaj’s tour rider has been revealed and some of the things that the ‘Super Bass’ rapper demands on the road includes *deep breath* three 12-piece buckets of spicy chicken wings, a large fruit platter, dried cranberries, scrambled egg whites, turkey bacon, white toast, Belgian waffles and three packs of chewing gum in three different flavours. Sounds like lunch at MP! HQ to be honest.
‘All Time Low’ and ‘Lightning’ songwriter Ed Drewett apparently has a big announcement for his fans later this evening. For those of you who don’t know, Ed has some poptastic songs of his own (see here for proof) and we’ve got our fingers crossed that a new single is on the way.
Yesterday we heard that Dappy has loads of fans with his name tattooed on their bodies – and it turns out one of them happens to be his girlfriend. ”She’s got my name on her back. She’s got my initials on her leg. She had my name on the back of her neck as well.” Because that’s not creepy at all…
Things have gone a bit quiet on the Gaga front, but Mother Monster logged into Twitter last night to give everyone a quick update on her upcoming Born This Way Ball tour – the setlist is currently being put together and the singer plans to tweet a preview of the brand new stage on Tuesday! Expect something life-changing.

The winner is… Cover Drive vs Professor Green vs Lana Del Rey
UPDATE: After personally calling and thanking the 12 people who took the time to vote in last week’s Song of the Week poll, we can officially announce Lana Del Rey is the winner and is rewarded with a coveted spot somewhere on the right of the website. The real winners are obviously Cover Drive who were not only MP!’s pick of the week, but are currently 14 positions above Lana on iTunes, at number 1. Not that we took it personally or anything.
We don’t want to ruin this article but we’ve already decided that Twilight by Cover Drive is the best song in this week’s Song Off. Read on for a greater understanding of the thorough investigation that took place to reach this conclusion, plus vote and comment in a useless attempt to prove us wrong. Cover Drive Vs Lana Del Rey Vs Professor Green.

Happy birthday Zayn Malik!
Comments
All together now: “Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday Zaaaaayn Maliiiiiik. Happy birthday to you.”
As if the fact that One Direction’s brand new video for ‘One Thing’ is premiering tomorrow wasn’t enough reason for the 1D family to celebrate, it’s only Zayn’s big day today! Our favourite (ssh, don’t tell the others) band member hits the big 1-9 today and he’s already been getting Twitter wishes from all the fans, his band mates and even pop star mates, including one from Pixie Lott who is also celebrating her birthday today!
But that’s not all – even OK, HMV, T4 and brilliant upcoming pop star Ed Drewett have already joined in. However, our favourite birthday message to Zayn has to be from fellow One Direction boy Niall. We like that Niall seems to have a lot on his mind this morning and Zayn’s big day almost seems like an afterthought. Is it just us or does that boy never stop thinking about food?
No word yet on how he plans to celebrate – but Zayn, if you’re reading this and you want to pop into the MP! office later to party, feel free. We’ve got chocolates and appropriate music already and if you want balloons we’ll get MP! Thing to blow some up. No? Okay. Maybe next year.
Got a birthday coming up? Make sure you click here and let us know and you might get your very own shoutout.
