Emeli Sandé to do some singing of songs in some fancy concert halls
BRIT Award winning soulpop songstress Emeli Sandé is to embark on a November jaunt across the UK, warbling songs from her chart-topping album Our Version of Events.
Hot on the heels of a hectic summer of festivals, the whistlestop tour will begin in Glasgow (where the Aberdeen lass used to study medicine before the music industry came a-calling) and take in Brum and London before concluding in Manchester.
Grab your tickets on Friday morning and get lyric perfect on The Songs of Sandé, including classy club anthem ‘Heaven’, gospel-infused ‘Next to Me’ and number one Professor Green collaboration ‘Read All About It’.
Proceeds from the Glasgow and London shows will be donated to charity, which is really quite generous, although the other two shows will be a nice little earner for the popstrel, keeping her in bleach and hairspray at least until Christmas.
Not for our Emeli are your typically bog standard popstar gig destinations, oh no. You’ll find no “O2″ Academies or “HMV” Apollos here. Proper posh, are these:
6 Nov – Glasgow Clyde Auditorium
8 Nov – Birmingham Symphony Hall
11 Nov – London Royal Albert Hall
12 Nov – Manchester Bridgewater Hall
Rita Ora will probably break Rita Ora’s record
Comment
Rita Ora’s new tune ‘R.I.P.’ is on course to become the fastest-selling single of 2012 so far, breaking the record currently held by DJ Fresh and, erm, Rita Ora’s ‘Hot Right Now’. The song is at the top of the midweek charts, released today, and pushes Tulisa’s ‘Young’ down to second place. Elsewhere in the rankings, Emeli Sande enters at No. 24 with ‘My Kind Of Love’ following her performance on The Voice, and four songs make comebacks thanks to the show’s contestants – Temper Trap’s ‘Sweet Disposition’ (No. 15), Kate Bush’s ‘Running Up That Hill’ (No. 33), Tom Petty’s ‘Freefallin’ (No. 38) and Coldplay’s ‘Paradise’ (No. 39). Over on the album chart, Keane are outselling the rest of the Top 5 combined with their new record Strangeland, whilst Cover Drive enter at No. 7 with Bajan Style and Marina and the Diamonds belly flops from No. 1 to No. 8 with Electra Heart.
Emeli Sandé ‘My Kind Of Love’ video – watch it now!
Scottish singer Emeli Sandé returns with the fourth single from her platinum selling debut album ‘Our Version Of Events’ – the heartwrenching, soulful ‘My Kind Of Love’. In the video Emeli has roped in Liv from Skins to play her sick friend who she breaks out of hospital for the day. In other words it’s a sobfest. Tissues ready? Let’s go…
LMFAO, JLS & Emeli Sandé on Sport Relief 2012: Pop Diary
It may be a night centred around sport, but Sport Relief 2012 is still finding time to let out the popstars. LMFAO will appear on BBC1 between 7:00 and 7:30pm, to kick the night off with some shufflin’. Emeli Sandé is burning the midnight oil with a rendition of her current hit ‘Next to Me’ between 11 and 12pm. But JLS are the star attractions, with a performance of the official Sport Relief single ‘Proud’ set for between 9:30 and 10pm. Plus there’s dozens of other stars to make the whole show worth watching and donating to, from Strictly Come Dancing finalists Harry Judd and Chelsee Healey in an underwater challenge to the Britain’s Got Talent team visiting Benidorm. Tune in from 7pm on Friday 23rd March. We’ve added the night to our Pop Diary, hit like below if you’ll be watching.

Cheryl Cole’s new album – 5 things you *need* to know
Despite the fact that it actually had some really strong tracks on it, Cheryl Cole’s last album ended up being a bit of a laughing stock, thanks to uninspired lyrics (who can forget the classic, “You were the tree and I was the apple”?), cheap production and really dodgy vocals – but with her third solo album expected later this year, we decided to do the research and find out if there’s any chance she might turn it all around. The answer? In short, it looks like she’s got a good shot.
Keep reading to find out 5 things you *need* to know about Cheryl Cole’s new album, including who’s masterminding it, when you can expect to hear the first single and what the ex-Girls Aloud star herself thinks of it. (more…)
