Popstar Harlem Shakes: Cody Simpson, Jedward, District 3 and Conor Maynard take on the latest internet craze.

Harlem Shake is the latest craze sweeping the world of the internet. We’re sure you’ve all seen one of the many videos flooding YouTube. It’s been doing the rounds for about three weeks and has already become an meteorically silly success. Some popstars have already tried their hand at their own Harlem Shake videos. Here’s the ones we’ve found…
JEDWARD
The Harlem Shake is silly but its also entertaining. As professional purveyors of the silly and entertaining it was only a matter of time before Jedward got involved.
As always, we appreciate Jedward’s enthusiasm but any Harlem Shake connoisseurs will notice Jedward are clearly floating a number of rules in their ‘Shake’. They gain extra points for getting so many people involved
5/10
CODY SIMPSON
It must be pretty boring being sat in a tour-bus for weeks on end. Cody came up with a unique way of keeping himself entertained.
This is a very strong Harlem Shake with many of the ‘rules’ of the Harlem Shake being observed. Cody is the lone dancer. There is a semi-naked gentleman in the background and the rest of the dancers are uninterested until after the drop. We also think this is the one time where a tracksuit actually gets you plus-points.
8/10
DISTRICT 3
This was filmed at the District 3 showcase on Sunday. Eagle-eyed viewers will spot MP!TV’s Luke Franks dancing with the boys.
Of course, you’ll only spot Luke if you’re not completely distracted by shirtless Dan. We understand, we struggled to see past that too. Before the drop this is perfect and it gets points for shirtlessness. We love the amount of 3eeks involved though we do doubt the validity of that upside down dancer and it loses points for the bad quality of the camera.
12/10 (a 7/10 with an extra 5 points for shirtless Dan)
CONOR MAYNARD
The final word on Harlem Shakes comes from popstar-in-hiding Conor Maynard.
20/10
Winner of the best Popstar Harlem Shake video: Conor Maynard.
Here’s hoping we see some more Harlem Shake silliness from bored touring popstars soon. Your move Bieber.

District 3 announce their very own tour
We love District 3, and so do their legions of adoring 3eeks. District 3 love performing live in front of all the 3eeks. The dust has barely settled on the X-Factor tour, which finished on Saturday, but the District 3 boys have already announced that they’re heading out on a tour of their very own tour in May.
Yesterday, at a special meet and greet attended by MP! TV’s Luke Franks and a room full of 3eeks, they announced that from 24th May they’ll play four shows in London, Birmingham, Sheffield and Newcastle.
Tickets are already onsale for some dates, the rest are open for general sale on Wednesday at 9am. We can’t wait to get ours and go see Dan’s eight-pack in person.
MP!’s Fit Awards – The Results
The Brit Awards 2013 contains far too many dull popstars, and far too many dull categories, so we at MP! have decided to create our own awards. Rather than rewarding dullness, we’re rewarding the things that really matter – brilliant hair, dedication to hats and omnipresent nipples. We’re ready and set to announce our winners alongside the Brit Awards.
- BEST BREAKTHROUGH NIPPLE – HARRY STYLES' THIRD NIPPLE – Well done Third Nipple. You always had this in the bag. You thrashed the other nipples taking 66% of the vote. We hear the nipple is already playing an all-nighter at the Ivy – whether Harry likes it or not!
- FITTEST GROUP THAT AREN'T 1D – DISTRICT 3 – This was our most hotly contested category. Over 2000 votes in this category. First it looked like Little Mix would walk it, then Union J took the lead. But soon it was a two-horse race between District 3 and the Wanted. District 3 won with 720 votes to the Wanted's 646. Well done boys & well done 3eeks!
- BEST BRITISH HAIR – ZAYN MALIK – We'll be honest, we love Zayn, we love Zayn's hair. We're happy this happened. After a brief lead by Max George, Zayn destroyed the competition and taking 639 votes. The way that he slicks his hair leaves us overwhelmed.
- BEST INTERNATIONAL HAIR – JEDWARD – It was always going to be Jedward. Firstly, their hair is iconic. Secondly, no-one takes on Planet Jedward.
- BEST SINGLE – NIALL HORAN – Cheeky little Niall has been breaking hearts the world over this year (including that of Selena Gomez) . Winning 45% of your vote, Niall beat his fellow 1D member Harry Styles into second.
- BEST HAT IN POP – MISHA B – And what a hat! The hat itself was double nominated and battle commenced between Misha B and Little Mix's Jesy who both wore the hat. It was close, but Misha B ended up winning with 38% of the vote. Conor Maynard only got 5.6% of the vote. Perhaps switch to scarfs next year Conor?
- SPECIAL AWARD – GLOBAL SUCCESS IN HATS – OLLY MURS – Because so many of you were (quite rightly) mad at us missing Olly in the 'Best Hat in Pop' category. No-one wears them quite like Olly…
A huge thank you to everyone that voted! We had nearly 7000 votes across all the categories.
MP!’s Fit Awards – Fittest Group that aren’t One Direction
The Brit Awards 2013 contains far too many dull popstars, and far too many dull categories, so we at MP! have decided to create our own awards. Rather than rewarding dullness, we’re rewarding the things that really matter – brilliant hair, odd trousers, fanatical instagramming and omnipresent nipples. We’ll be announcing the categories and the nominees over the next few days and will announce the results alongside the (now largely irrelevant) Brit Awards results on Wednesday.
FITTEST GROUP THAT AREN’T ONE DIRECTION
We looked at the Brits’ Best British Group category. Then we fell asleep a bit. There’s quite a lot of boring bands on the list. So we decided to do a much more fun Fittest Group award. But we know you guys. We knew One Direction would walk it. So we’ve disqualified One Direction on account of them being too pretty. So who’s the Fittest Group that aren’t One Direction?
- STOOSHE – Courtney, Karis & Alexandra just want you to love them. The brightly-coloured neon-haired ladies have a distinct look that makes them stand out from the rest of the pop crowd. Are these the girls for you?
- JLS – The original princes of boyband super stardom have been overtaken by 1D and The Wanted. But do Marvin & co. still push your buttons? They're likely to get their nipples out for votes. That's got to help?
- THE WANTED – They're not bad to look at are they?
- LITTLE MIX – One Direction are very prettY, but Little Mix are also very pretty, but in the girl way. Which is different. Our favourite X-Factor winners keep getting prettier and prettier. It's just not fair!
- UNION J – Without doubt these guys have the best wardrobe in pop (Josh's jacket being the exception here). Possibly even better than One Direction's. But they also have immaculate hair and nice faces. If 1D aren't careful, Union J could overtake them as our new crushes.
- DISTRICT 3 – 3eeks: ASSEMBLE! Our favourite ab-flashing, cheesey dancing teens need your votes. These boys are favourites amongst MP! HQ. We're going to spend the next five hours voting for them.

GMD3 nail their X Factor audition! Watch it now
Comments
*smug face* Regular visitors to MP! will know we’ve supported Greg, Dan and Micky of GMD3 since day 1. But after this weekend’s spot-on performance of Boyz II Men’s ‘I’ll Make Love To You’ on The X Factor the boys can count 4 new faces amongst their fans – Louis, Tulisa, Nicole and Gary. The boys, who are managed by The Wanted’s old manager Jayne Collins, got a standing ovation and 4 massive/definite/absolute YESs to take them through to Boot Camp. We hate to say we told you so… Watch the performance below and let us know what you think in the comments:

GMD3 on X Factor next week, Girls Aloud Greatest Hits, Parade about to be signed?, Little Mix and Stooshe’s new singles
Rumours, gossip and stuff we dreamt about last week. Welcome to the MP! Gossip Round Up starring GMD3, Girls Aloud, Stooshe, Parade and Little Mix.
Eagle-eyed MP!ers have let us know to look out for GMD3 on next week’s X Factor after seeing them in the trailer. We’ve heard, the boys – managed by The Wanted’s and The Saturdays’ old manager Jayne Collins – got 4 big YESs and have made it to the Judge’s Houses stage of the competition.
Are Girls Aloud back in the studio working on new music? YES. Are they working with long term collaborators Xenomania? YES. And, what’s this amazing new music for? Well, a loud-mouth pop star friend of MP! has told us that the Alouders are planning a Greatest Hits package featuring a few new songs. Bad news for those who were hoping for a new album from The Ginge & Co :(
In other girlgroup news… we’ve heard a couple of BIG record labels are interested in signing Parade after their free download of ‘Light Me Up’ got almost 60,000 plays on YouTube and Soundcloud. And if they’re not yet convinced, they will be after they hear the MASSIVE tune the girls recorded with Ed Drewett (the chap who wrote ‘Glad You Came’) and Tim Powell, which the girls were nice enough to play us recently. And don’t get us started on the song written to a dead person… yes, really.
Little Mix are set to top the charts later today with (proper) debut single ‘Wings’ and we’ve heard the second single is also massive. ‘Super Bass’ and ‘Rude Boy’ songwriter Ester Dean supposedly wrote the track. Wowza – the Little Mix album is starting to look very exciting. Boy’d.
After the massive never-ending success of ‘Black Heart’ have Stooshe changed their plans for their third single? We heard it was set to be the mental shout-a-long ‘Kiss Chase’ but has been replaced with the 60s stylings of ‘See Me Like This’. Who would’ve thought that the Technicolor group would subscribe to the ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’ (pop music) school of thought?
We want your gossip, rumours and detective work. If you’ve heard something t(p)op secret and want to share it with the world, drop us an email with your rumour and any evidence you have. All gossip treated in confidence – we respect your anonymity.

GMD3 through on X Factor, Cheryl’s new single, Katy Perry premiere prizes, Lily Allen is BACK!
2Comments
Awfully named pop trio, leap-frog experts and all-round nice blokes GMD3 are through to the Boot Camp stage on X Factor 2012! Dan, Micky and Gregg, who are managed by The Wanted mastermind Jayne Collins, auditioned for the show last month and got 4 BIG YESs from the panel. One Direction 2013? We hope so.
After topping the charts with new single ‘Call My Name’ and almost topping the charts with third album A Million Lights, Our Chezza has announced the name of her new single. The Alex Da Kid-produced tuuuuuuuune ‘Under The Sun’ will be officially released on September 10th – over 3 months away. Come on Cheryl, get a move on. See an exclusive pic from the video here.
Who likes queueing? The oragnisers of Katy Perry’s: Part of Me 3D European film premiere have revealed that the first 100 people to arrive at 5.30pm on the day will win some Katy Perry goodies. We’re not exactly sure what they are, but are hoping for squirty cream and candy floss. The premiere will take place Tuesday 3rd July in London’s Leicester Square. Added bonus? You’ll get to see Katy, a bunch of famous faces and team MP! walking the red carpet, from behind the barriers. Oh, the glamour.
Pop ritiree and big fibber Lily Allen has announced she is back in the recording studio throwing shit at the wall. Forget throwing shit Lily, we want SONGS. *Ahem* Terrible jokes aside, we’re not going to say anything apart from yehaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. More insightful commentary from MP! if you check back every day.
How much would it cost to get a pop star round your house? MP! Investigates
Comments
Real life pop stars pulling shapes and crooning in your living room in an intimate performance just for you. It’s the reality of the very rich and the greatest dream of the very poor. But just how much moolah would you need to see Parade, The Wanted, GMD3 or Justin Bieber trading Wembley Arena’s stage for your semi in Middlesex? MP! Investigates has the answers you probably won’t want to hear.
- Parade
After crashing at houses all over the country during Live & Lost, the Parade girls are definitely no strangers to this. For an official private performance you'll need to ask your mum for about £10,000 but on the bright side Parade are one of the few bands that will come out to your house. As long as you live somewhere nice and your bedroom is tidy.
- The Wanted
Time to get extra shifts on your paper round because it costs a whopping £75,000 to hire The Wanted for a private performance. But that's not even the worst part – the band will no longer turn up to just any old house. Rumour has it that if you live somewhere flashy in the South of France and chuck in a few ham sandwiches then you're all set…
- The Saturdays
They used to perform for fans for the measly price of around £35,000, but these days The Sats have apparently got better things to do and will no longer come to your parties. But then who would want a heavily pregnant Una sat on their sofa like a ticking time bomb?
- GMD3
If you're desperate to nab these three boys (who are yet to even release a debut single) then the price is understandably lower – but it still might be a little bit out of your range. Offer up £1,500 and some snacks and you could be within arms length of Dan, Greg and Mickey in no time.
- Kanye West & Jay-Z
We imagined it would probably cost an arm and a leg to hire these two out. We weren't wrong. Luckily, if you're the daughter of an Arab billionaire and your 16th birthday is coming up, you've got a good chance of Jay and 'Ye dropping by. But it'll cost you a hefty £4 million – those Yankee hats don't pay for themselves.
- Justin Bieber
As far as we can tell, the only way you'll get The Biebs to perform at your party is if you're his manager. Justin did an impromptu set to help Scooter Braun celebrate his 30th, including performances of his biggest hits and a quick bash on the drums. Was that the sound of a thousand teenage hearts breaking? Oh well, never say never eh?
- Shakira
No word on how much the "Hips Don't Lie" singer was actually paid to perform at Indian tycoon K.P. Singh's 80th birthday party, but she arrived on his private island in a boat decorated specifically for the occasion. Something tells us that getting a bus to your house won't be her cup of tea…
So dearest MP!er, what we have we learned? Unless you’re a billionaire that lives in rural France and don’t mind getting your personal chef to make 12,000 gourmet ham sarnies, it’s probably best if you just get your bloke mates to play dress up whilst miming to All Time Low. Hands up if we just ruined your day. Oh dear.
Which pop stars would YOU want to perform at your birthday party?
NEW MP! gets shout outs from massive British Pop Stars
Everyone knows that pop stars don’t ‘do’ queueing but it looks like they’ve made an exception today, as they’re lining up to congratulate us on our new look website. Parade, Oh My!, Twenty Twenty, The Wanted, GMD3 and Luminites have all taken time from their busy pop-star schedules to give MP! a massive shout out on twitter. So now you know where they hang out when they’re not busy recording hits, hitting high notes and spending their millions. Thanks guys.
