If this isn’t love, then we don’t know what it is. Pop crooner Jennifer Hudson’s taken an early lead as 2014’s Most Generous Pop Star by giving her assistant and BFF a HOUSE for Christmas. That box of Celebrations isn’t looking so fancy now, is it?
Thankfully, the shouty singer filmed the dramatic moment for the world to see, and posted it to Instagram. No free abode for us, but at least we can laugh at his ridiculously over the top appropriate reaction and J-Hud’s amazing socks. Enjoy.
Last night the stars aligned in Brooklyn, New York for the 20th MTV Video Music Awards and some of the biggest names in pop performed for your viewing pleasure. Take a look at the performances below.
Lady Gaga – ‘Applause’
First up to perform at the VMAs was Lady Gaga who gave an insanely magnificent performance of her latest single ‘Applause’. Of course, Gaga’s performance wasn’t a straight, normal performance. Lady G went through five costume changes, three wigs and a little splash of face paint.
Miley Cyrus and Robin Thicke– ‘We Can’t Stop/Blurred Lines/Give It 2 U’
Next up was a medley that sent the audience in Brooklyn into a twerking frenzy! Miley Cyrus burst out of a huge teddy to perform ‘We Can’t Stop’ and was joined on stage by Robin Thicke for a duet of ‘Blurred Lines’. 2 Chainz and Kendrick Lamar then replaced Miley to perform their new collaboration ‘Give It 2 U’.
Kanye West – ‘Blood On The Leaves’
Kim Kardashian’s baby-daddy then took to the stage to perform an autotune filled performance of new album track ‘Blood On The Leaves’. The performance was a very dark one, with only Kanye’s silhouette being seen for most of the song behind a forest backdrop.
Justin Timberlake – ‘Hits Medley’
After collecting his Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, JT gave what some reports are calling the best performance of the night! He performed a medley containing not one, not two, not even three, but ELEVEN of his hit single and even brought some friends along with him. After years of wishing and week of rumours, *NSYNC reunited on stage for performances of ‘Girlfriend’ and ‘Bye Bye Bye’.
Macklemore and Ryan Lewis featuring Mary Lambert and Jennifer Hudson – ‘Same Love’
Macklemore and Ryan Lewis were joined by Mary Lambert and Jennifer Hudson to perform their gay rights anthem ‘Same Love’. Similarly to Kanye’s performance, the lighting was kept low, allowing the focus to be solely on the subject of the song.
Drake – ‘Hold On, We’re Going Home/Started From The Bottom’
Medleys were definitely a huge part of the MTV VMAs this year and Drake was the third and final performer to showcase more than one song as part of their VMAs set. Performing two hit singles from his latest album ‘Nothing Was The Same’, Drake had the whole audience involved with his performance.
Bruno Mars – ‘Gorilla’
After scooping the award for Best Male Video, Mr. Mars had some pretty big expectations to live up to. He performed his brand spanking new song and was one of the more tamed performances of the night. His powerful vocals shone through and his leopard print shirt is pretty darn cool.
Katy Perry – ‘Roar’
The last performance of the night came from Katy Perry who decided that the Barclays Centre in Brooklyn wasn’t good enough for her set so she took to the street and performed in a wrestling ring under the Brooklyn Bridge! KP stuck to the theme of her performance by wearing a wrestler’s costume and having her dancers join her in a themed routine.
Now it’s time for you to cast your votes for your favourite VMAs performance below! Voting is now closed.
Result: The winner was Justin Timberlake’s medley with 30.56% of the vote. It seems everyone is as happy about *NSYNC’s return as us!
