Katy Perry and pals make their own ‘Call Me Maybe’ music video!
Katy Perry is the latest celebrity to show some love for Carly Rae Jepsen’s chart-topper ‘Call Me Maybe’, filming a parody music video with some mates by the pool. Selena Gomez, Ashley Tisdale, Justin Bieber and Big Time Rush were the first to upload footage of themselves miming along back in February… how does Katy compare?

Calm down Katy! Katy Perry ‘Part of Me’ video
Crikey. The last time a pop star was this mad Kelly Clarkson was breathing for the first time. In new video for ‘Part of Me’ candyfloss queen Katy gets revenge on a cheating ex by joining the army, smashing in heads, and shooting guns. Whatever happened to a night out with your mates at the karaoke? ‘Part of Me’ is taken from the rerelease of Katy’s Teenage Dream album and it’s an absolute corker. Watch the video below.

Chris Brown, Madonna, Jessie J: who’s gonna top the charts this Sunday?
It looks like no amount of controversy can stop Chris Brown from selling bucketloads of records, as his new single ‘Turn Up The Music’ is on course to dethrone Katy Perry at Number 1 in the singles charts. The track has pushed ‘Part Of Me’ down to Number 3 in the midweeks, with Sean Paul holding firm at Number 2.
There’s also good news for birthday girl Jessie J, whose album track ‘Mama Knows Best’ is poking its big-mouthed head in at Number 40 thanks to The Voice contestant J Marie Cooper’s glass-shattering rendition on Saturday’s episode.
Over on the album chart, Madonna’s new record MDNA is on course to debut at Number 1, pushing Paul Weller’s absolutely thrilling album Sonik Kicks (SARCASM-O-METER EXPLODES) right the way down to Number 7. The special edition of Katy Perry’s Teenage Dream, The Complete Confection, is enough to propel the album right the way up from Number 29 to Number 5.

Katy Perry performs ‘Part Of Me’ in the Live Lounge

The Complete Confection campaign has finally hit UK shores, with candy-floss queen Katy Perry making a special appearance at BBC Radio 1′s Live Lounge earlier today. In between chatting with her fans about playing an old woman in her last video, revealing a love of baked beans and covering Jay-Z and Kanye West, the singer also gave a stripped back rendition of her current single ‘Part Of Me’.
Though her vocals are still a little ear-drum splitting, this is definitely a successful transformation, taking the song from an anthemic dance record to a stomping acoustic that sounds much darker and intense than the original. And whilst she didn’t sound great, she looked amazing – in fact, the blue hair might be our favourite style yet (at least until we see Katy Perry the soldier in full).

Attention! It’s Katy Perry the soldier in the ‘Part of Me’ trailer

Katy Perry’s never ending album campaign for Teenage Dream continues to not end with new release ‘Part of Me’, the first single to be taken from the album’s rerelease ‘The Complete Confection’. After previous videos saw candyfloss, flaming boobies, aliens, teenage stereotypes and old ladies you’d think KPerry might be running out of ideas. But here she is, cropped barnet, aggressively flipping people over her shoulder, strangling them under water and generally looking very pissed off as Action Girl Katy. The video, directed by Ben Mor who’s also worked on amazing, cinematic videos from The Black Eyed Peas, looks set to continue Katy Perry’s almost flawless run of videos since back in the days when she was kissing girls (and liking it). The full ‘Part of Me’ video’s released March 21st. Watch the trailer below…

Katy Perry: “I have an idea for the next two records”
Despite reaching Number One in the US with latest single ‘Part Of Me’ and preparing for the release of The Complete Confection, recently divorced singer Katy Perry has admitted that she’s already thinking about what she wants to do next and that she has an idea of what her next two albums will sound like.
“I don’t want to jinx myself because I haven’t stepped into the studio… I have an idea for the next two records,” revealed the blue-haired California Gurl in an interview with MTV. “I’m gonna kind of put my finger out there and test the pulse or test the waters of what the world wants, or what I need to say.”
Katy’s already hinted that her third album will see her return to her “roots” (we’re still not entirely sure what that means, because let’s face it, Katy has always been releasing catchy pop tunes) and that the songs will probably be a lot darker.
One thing she WON’T be attempting is to top any of the records she broke with her Teenage Dream – which included tying with the late Michael Jackson for most Number One singles from an album.
“I may not get to be able to have another number one, so I’m just gonna do what feels right for me artistically. I’m very inspired at the moment, and so I’m gonna follow my heart as I always have and hopefully people will like it.”
What do YOU think Katy Perry's next album should sound like?
