Stream Me Maybe? Carly Rae Jepsen is first ever Number 1 on brand new chart
The Official Charts Company have just revealed their first ever Streaming Chart, compiled using figures from Spotify, We7, Napster and Deezer (nope, us neither), and Carly Rae Jepsen is its first ever Number 1. ‘Call Me Maybe’ finishes ahead of Fun.’s ‘We Are Young’ at No. 2, Gotye (OH GO AWAY NOW GOTYE) with ‘Somebody That I Used To Know’ at No. 3 and Alex Clare’s ‘Too Close’ at No. 4. Nicki Minaj, Train, David Guetta, Sean Paul, Marina and the Diamonds and Azealia Banks complete the Top 10. Edge-of-your-seat stuff, right?
Rita Ora will probably break Rita Ora’s record
Comment
Rita Ora’s new tune ‘R.I.P.’ is on course to become the fastest-selling single of 2012 so far, breaking the record currently held by DJ Fresh and, erm, Rita Ora’s ‘Hot Right Now’. The song is at the top of the midweek charts, released today, and pushes Tulisa’s ‘Young’ down to second place. Elsewhere in the rankings, Emeli Sande enters at No. 24 with ‘My Kind Of Love’ following her performance on The Voice, and four songs make comebacks thanks to the show’s contestants – Temper Trap’s ‘Sweet Disposition’ (No. 15), Kate Bush’s ‘Running Up That Hill’ (No. 33), Tom Petty’s ‘Freefallin’ (No. 38) and Coldplay’s ‘Paradise’ (No. 39). Over on the album chart, Keane are outselling the rest of the Top 5 combined with their new record Strangeland, whilst Cover Drive enter at No. 7 with Bajan Style and Marina and the Diamonds belly flops from No. 1 to No. 8 with Electra Heart.

Marina & The Diamonds – Primadonna – Alarm Pop
Comment
After poptastic dance-floor ready anthem ‘Radioactive’ failed to set the charts alight, kooky Marina & The Diamonds went straight back to the drawing board to make sure enough hype was built for her upcoming concept album Electra Heart. The result? Dr Luke-produced banger ‘Primadonna’ that combines Britney style dirty synth riffs with Marina’s unique vocals and introspective lyrics like “Beauty queen of the silver screen, I’m living life like I’m in a dream, I know I’ve got a big ego”. Is it the best song she’s ever recorded? Definitely not. Is it a relentless tune with great production and an insanely catchy chorus? Yes it is.
Check out the Casper Balslev directed video for ‘Primadonna’ below. The less said about that wig, the better.
What do you think? Marina & The Diamonds, Primadonna - sh*t or hit?

Jessie J and JLS set for Sport Relief, Simon wants Katy Perry for X Factor, Blue Ivy causes a stir and Marina announces new single – gossip!

Little baby Blue Ivy is only weeks old but is already creating quite an impression. In fact, so much so that her parents Beyoncé & Jay-Z have apparently filed an application with the US Patent and Trademark Office to protect her name for future branding opportunities. Watch out for official Blue Ivy pencil cases, coming to a House of Dereon near you soon.
Marina And The Diamonds has announced the details of her brand new, upcoming single. ‘Primadonna’ is reportedly produced by Dr Luke and will be released in April. It’s the second single (or ‘first official single’ if you’re taking her word for it) to be taken from Marina’s forthcoming album Electra Heart. Confused? Us too. But we’re excited to hear it nonetheless.
Both Jessie J and JLS have been lined up as guest performers on this year’s Let’s Dance For Sport Relief. The show, in aid of Sport Relief is set to begin next month and will feature celebrity contestants such as DJ Tony Blackburn and Ulrika Johnson. Couldn’t they just have JLS competing against each other?
Katy Perry could be joining The X Factor USA if rumours are to be believed. In an interview with US show Extra, Simon Cowell described her as ‘fun and feisty’ and the ideal candidate for a judging role. The singer is no stranger to this, after guest judging on UK X Factor – and she provided so much entertainment (read as: pretending to feel up Cheryl Cole) we’d love to see her as a permanent fixture.
