McFly ‘Do It In The Dark’ with live acoustic performance for WWF. POP BITS.
POP BITS. When we first heard McFly were going to do a live acoustic set for WWF this Saturday, we were ecstatic. Then we were slightly confused as we didn’t think ‘Shine A Light’ was much of an anthem for the World Wrestling Federation. After using our brilliant detective skills we then concluded that it was actually for the World Wildlife Fund. Phew! Although we wouldn’t mind seeing Harry Judd donning some form fitting wrestling attire.
Tom, Danny, Harry and Dougie are no strangers at using their pop powers for good with their Comic Relief single ‘All About You’ peaking at number one in the charts in 2005 and also performing at Live 8. The man band’s latest charitable act shall be broadcasting a special acoustic performance for the WWF’s Earth Hour on Saturday 23rd at 8.30pm. The broadcast is called ‘Do It in the Dark’ and we are both nervous and excited about what it could entail. One thing we can guarantee is that we will be glued to our laptop screens. You can learn more about Earth Hour here and you can watch the broadcast, as it happens on MP! on Saturday below.
POP BITS OUT.
McFly writing songs for One Direction. POP BITS.
POP BITS. McFly have been off the radar a bit. Dougie’s been growing an impressive beard (see left), Harry’s been getting his nipples out at every opportunity (that’s no complaint), Tom’s been getting married adorably and Danny has been building his model railway (OK, we made that last one up). But now it appears the boys are back!
They’ll kick off their ‘Memory Lane’ Greatest Hits tour next month but we won’t be waiting long for the next album (which will be their first since 2010). “We’ve written all the songs we are just waiting to record them,” revealed Dougie. Let’s hope they find time in between gigs, we want a prompt summer release please boys!
In double-boyband, double-good news the hirsute warbler also revealed McFly have been writing songs for One Direction’s album. One particular song, co-written with Niall, Dougie promises is a “stadium epic”. Niall’s embarking on his second sell-out world tour at the tender age of just 19 so perhaps the rousing, anthemic stadium atmosphere has become second nature to him. Dougie hopes the as yet untitled song ends up on the as yet untitled third One Direction album which as yet has no release date (not even a rumoured one) and we couldn’t agree more. POP BITS OUT.
MP’s Fit Awards – Best Breakthrough Nipple
The Brit Awards 2013 contains far too many dull popstars, and far too many dull categories, so we at MP! have decided to create our own awards. Rather than rewarding dullness, we’re rewarding the things that really matter – brilliant hair, odd trousers, fanatical instagramming and omnipresent nipples. We’ll be announcing the categories and the nominees over the next few days and will announce the results alongside the (now largely irrelevant) Brit Awards results on Wednesday.
BEST BREAKTHROUGH NIPPLE
This year there have been some pop nipples that have refused to go away. No matter how hard their owners have tried, these pesky attention-seeking nipples have managed to make appearances here, there and everywhere.
- HARRY JUDD'S NIPPLES – It’s widely known that after ‘Obviously’ and that wedding speech, Harry Judd’s nipples are one of the best things McFly have ever done. Inseparable, they are never without one another. Our favourite pop twins – sorry Jedward – they are sharing a nomination.
- ASTON JLS' LEFT NIPPLE – Seen nationwide on JLS’ 4th Dimension Tour, perhaps pop’s most prolific nipples have made their presence felt all year. But whilst Aston’s right nipple has demanded more privacy citing exhaustion, Aston’s left has made a break for solo stardom.
- JUSTIN BIEBER'S RIGHT NIPPLE – Justin Bieber’s nipples used to be very shy and retiring and were always overshadowed by Justin’s hair. However, having come of age and turned 18, the nipples are forging a pop career of their own, now accompanying Justin on stage on his Believe tour. Hopefully we’ll see them when Justin tours the UK. Here is his right nipple being typically obnoxious.
- HARRY STYLES' THIRD NIPPLE – Possibly the world’s most highly anticipated nipple, Harry Styles’ third nipple gained fame after being seen on a yacht in Australia with Harry and the rest of One Direction last year. An oddball – widely considered the joker of Harry’s nipples (there are four of them) – we wouldn’t be surprised to see Third Nipple in rehab before 2013 is over.

Harry Judd (nearly) naked. Again
Here’s a video of McFly’s Harry Judd talking about… oh, who cares. He’s in his underwear. Again.
The only bad thing about this video promoting something or other? We can’t get the bloody thing in high quality. What were Maynards thinking?

One great pop song every day before you’ve had your Coco Pops. Old, new or exclusive – every song worthy of a place on your iPod and deserves at least one listen for every 10 times you play ‘What Makes You Beautiful’. Welcome to maximumpop.co.uk Alarm Pop.
UPDATE: Take a look at the single cover for McFly’s upcoming release ‘Love Is Easy’. The song is taken from the boys’ Greatest Hits.
Sweet harmonies, simple lyrics, a ukulele, and not a synth to be heard or a light to be shone – it looks like new McFly is a lot like early McFly meets ginger crooner Ed Sheeran. Pop grandads Tom, Danny, Dougie and Harry debuted the new track ‘Love Is Easy’ at a recent gig in LA’s The Roxy. The toe-tapping, cheery tune is from the boys’ upcoming sixth studio album which is likely to be released early 2013. Welcome back boys – we’ve missed you.

Only one of these hand-drawn McFly t-shirts has *ever* been printed, which makes it at least as valuable as Geri Halliwell’s Union Jack dress. The owner of this one-of-a-kind beauty? Congratulations to hella_mcfly. Everyone else, another Comp of the Day coming up very soon.
