Duets, free albums and promoting for fifty years – 5 things we learned from Alexandra Burke’s interview with 4Music
Comment
There’s an elephant in the MP! HQ office – and it’s that some of us are ridiculously excited for the upcoming Alexandra Burke album, and some of us aren’t. Will her brand new interview with the guys at 4Music help us all to reach the same point of view? There’s only one way to find out. Keep reading for 5 things we learned, including the plans for single two, whether or not she’s working with RedOne and how she wants to promote the new CD for fifty years. Seriously.
The Burke thinks her new album is definitely a risk. “But I love it because I’m doing things that are slightly out of my comfort zone and out of the box.” – and she admits that lead single ‘Elephant’ is *very* different to the rest of the songs she’s written. (more…)

Pop Star Connections: Taylor Swift to Rebecca Ferguson
From surprise collaborations to heated online feuds, everyone in the pop universe is connected in some way. Yep, EVERYONE. You might be raising your eyebrows at the back, but prepare to be amazed as this week we show you how country warbler Taylor Swift is connected to X-Factor star Rebecca Ferguson in six easy steps…
STEP 1. NICKI MINAJ - After expressing her love for the pink-wigged, foul-mouthed rap superstar, Taylor was joined on stage by Nicki Minaj to perform a stellar cover of her hit smash ‘Super Bass’.
STEP 2. BRITNEY SPEARS - Nicki and Brit Brit became best buddies (or something like that) after taking the Femme Fatale show out on the road together. Nicki (normally the shy and retiring type…) even jumped on the remix of ‘Til The World Ends’. It wasn’t great guys, it wasn’t great.
STEP 3. LADY GAGA - There’s about a hundred ways we could link Britney to Gaga, but we’ll go for the best one we know. Before it became one of her biggest hits (thanks to THAT video), Beyoncé duet ‘Telephone’ was originally penned by the Lady herself for Britney to include on her Circus album. She turned it down and the rest, as they say, is history.
STEP 4. REDONE - At one point you could barely move without hearing that infamous “REDONE” cry over a track on the radio. But despite lending his name and extraordinary producing skills to many pop classics, RedOne is arguably most famous for his work with Gaga, including songs like ‘Just Dance’, ‘Poker Face’ and ‘Bad Romance’.
STEP 5. ONE DIRECTION - We’ll be honest, we haven’t been able to stop playing ‘What Makes You Beautiful’ long enough to hear most of One Direction’s debut album, but we DO know that one track in particular (‘Save You Tonight’) was produced by RedOne for the boys. We’ll get around to it, promise.
STEP 6. REBECCA FERGUSON - Taylor Swift and Rebecca Ferguson have more in common than you think – both have released albums that are all about boys that broke their hearts. And of course, after their unusual romance ended whilst Rebecca was in the studio, it’s safe to say that Zayn’s ears should be burning…
And there you have it. Taylor Swift to Rebecca Ferguson in six easy steps. Didn’t think we could do it, did you? See if you can stump us by suggesting which two random pop stars we should try and connect next week!
