Rebecca Ferguson – new single details!
The last we heard of Rebecca Ferguson was a VERY public rant on Twitter where the Liverpudlian singer accused her management of overworking and taking advantage of her. The angry tweets showed a different side to the softly spoken star but it’s back to work for the former X Factor runner-up as she announces new single details.
‘Backtrack’, which appears on the US edition of Rebecca’s debut album Heaven, is her newie and will be released on iTunes on 15 October. The single will precede a re-release of the UK edition of Heaven (are you keeping up at the back?), which will include two brand new tracks and Miss Ferguson’s covers of the Drake/Rihanna duet ‘Take Care’ and Aqualung’s ‘Strange And Beautiful’.
Take a listen to the Motown-flavoured ‘Backtrack’ below and let us know what you think!
Rita Ora album signing tonight in London!

Guest X Factor judge (and Jay-Z’s latest signing) Rita Ora has been tipped by many music industry types as the UK Rihanna, and following her THREE number one singles (‘Hot Right Now’ with DJ Fresh, ‘RIP’ feat. Tinie Tempah and ‘How We Do (Party)’), Rita’s debut album Ora was released yesterday!
We gave you all the goss on the album MONTHS ago (we’re good like that), and after her first three singles each sold over 100,000 copies in their first weeks, Ora looks set to hit the top of the album charts on Sunday.
What’s more, the lovely Rita is doing an album signing in London tonight! Ms Ora will be meeting fans and signing CDs at HMV Whiteleys in Bayswater from 6pm. Wristbands to access the event are available instore from 9am today (first come, first served), so get yourself down there and tell Rita that Maximum Pop! sent you.

Bit late for the Catwoman auditions Rita :(Pop Postbog: Rita Ora’s debut album – all the goss!
Comments
MP!er Luke H contacted the all-new MP! Pop Post Bag to ask for details of the debut album from Rita Ora. He said “Hi can you tell me some details on Rita Ora’s album O.R.A”. Well hello Luke – after some hotel door banging, pop star stalking, and other things you’re too young to hear about – our investigation is complete. Here’s what we know in bullet points. Handy.
- UPDATED: Rita’s debut album is called ORA and will be released in the UK on 28 August, 2012.
- UPDATED: The album’s cover is featured at the bottom of this article.
- Ms Ora’s album will include the number one smashes ‘R.I.P’ and ‘Hot Right Now’ as well as brand new single ‘How We Do (Party)’ which we think is pretty awesome in a ‘TGIF-meets-Cover Drive’ sort of way.
- She’s nabbed herself a load of pretty cool producers from Ester Dean (who’s the genius behind most of Rihanna’s recent smashes) to global beat-twiddler Will.i.am, to rapper Drake, slick production duo Stargate and even hip-hop megastar Kanye West, so we’re expecting plenty of R&B-infused pop gems from the Roc Nation darling.
- Judging by her pretty ace performances at the recent Radio 1 Hackney Weekend we can probably expect to see songs such as ‘Facelift’, ‘Shine Ya Light’ and ‘Roc the Life’ on the album, although potential tracks such as ‘Been Lying’, ‘Unfair’ and ‘Love At War’ might not make the cut. Potential sadface/’Turn Myself In’ alert.
- If we had to guess the overall feel of the debut, we’d go with two parts Rihanna, one dash Cover Drive/Shontelle, and another dash of the excellent R&B-dance tunes Cheryl recently produced on her latest album. Therefore: amazing.
- She’ll probably keep the gorgeous blonde hair. Less an insider tip, more a hopeful request – as she looks ace with it and only Rihanna, Katy and Gaga can pull off the ‘changing hair really often’ thing.
- Here’s the album’s cover:
That’s all the info we have at the moment, dear readers, but don’t fear – we’ll keep you updated with the latest news about O.R.A. more often than Rihanna whips out an offensive if slightly LOL-worthy tee shirt.

Are you excited by Deadmau5 at Wireless? Or are more stoked for RiRi?

Rihanna goes Middle Eastern for ‘Where Have You Been’ music video
Comments
Rihanna has premiered the music video to her new single ‘Where Have You Been’, in which she dresses in full Middle Eastern gear and – you guessed it – dances provocatively. We can’t help but feel like the choreography was a bit over-hyped… for all the attention it got in the previous behind-the-scenes clips, it’s not actually as fast and exciting as we expected. But aside from that, we remain impressed that a popstar can release so many singles in such a short space of time and still show no sign of letting the quality slip.
Carly Rae Jepsen, Calvin Harris, The Voice… It’s a pretty boring week in the charts
Comment
Carly Rae Jepsen is Number 1 for the fourth time this week, making ‘Call Me Maybe’ the 7th best-seller of 2012 so far and edging out the midweek leader from Calvin Harris. The producer’s latest tune ‘Let’s Go’, featuring Ne-Yo, settles for Number 2 and is the highest new entry in a relatively dull week for big arrivals. A few tracks from The Voice’s Battle Rounds make quiet comebacks a little further down – Stereophonics’ ’Dakota’ (Number 29), Kings of Leon’s ‘Use Somebody (Number 35) and Rihanna’s ‘We Found Love’ (Number 39) to name three – but other than that it looks like the big chart action is being saved for next week, when Tulisa and Cover Drive attempt to dethrone Carly from the summit. Tulisa’s taken the early lead on iTunes… can she do it?
