The New Zealand singer is STILL attacking her fellow female artists after slamming Selena Gomez for being “anti-feminist”. In a new interview with The Sun, Lorde has picked a row with Britney Spears, and even spoken about the late Amy Winehouse.
“I’ll never go off the rails like Britney [Spears]. Or do an Amy [Winehouse], because my upbringing was so normal,” she told the newspaper. “I can’t touch alcohol at my age. And I’m not sure I even want to, when I’m older.”
Lorde has also spoken about moving to LA, saying she could never do it because the place turns her into “a freak”.
“I don’t think I could ever live in Los Angeles,” she continued. “It does something to your soul. The place really infects people – if I stay there for too long, I start being a freak!” Now that’s something we wouldn’t like to see… POP BITS OUT.
“Who would say such things!” we hear you cry. Well according to Selena, she is often told on a daily basis that she isn’t sexy or cool! What a travesty. During her show at the Mohegan Sun Arena this week, Selena told the sold out crowd “Every day I get told I’m not sexy enough or I’m not cool enough or if I did this, or if I did that, I would have people love me… look at this room! I don’t have to do any of that to have love!”. This is where we’d like to imagine Sel snapping her fingers in a Z shape, flicking her hair and doing her best sassy walk off of the stage. That didn’t happen though.
Well in the words of the great, poptastic philosopher Selenius Gomezius “Who says? Who says you’re not perfect” Selena? POP BITS OUT.
POP BITS. On Wednesday night’s edition of American talk show Jimmy Kimmel live, some of our favourite popstars (and some we’ve admittedly never heard of) all sat down and ready some pretty nasty things about themselves.
Our favourites are Selena Gomez reading that people don’t know why they hate her, they just do. John Legend reading that he cries after sex, Demi Lovato reading that people just want her music to stop, and Pharrell Williams being told he looks like a sewer rat!
Beware, it gets a bit explicit at times…
Watch the video below and let us know which you think is the funniest, and who you would like to see read your mean tweet! POP BITS OUT.
POP BITS. Oooh playing hard to get are we, George? Well, if you were expecting George Shelley and Selena Gomez to be the next pop power couple, we’re afraid you’re about to be very disappointed. Talking to Capital Fm, Selena has revealed that George didn’t bother calling her back. Awkwaaard.
The future looked so bright for Sorge Gelley. Between cheeky “Give me a call” videos and tour romances, we were expecting the couple to give Zerrie a good run for their money. However, according to Selena, George didn’t bother to call her back… and she’s pretty offended by it.
When Capital FM asked her who she would most like to receive a flirty DM from, Sel revealed “Well, since I’m here I’m actually very offended that George didn’t call me, from Union J. I’m offended. I’m actually offended… I was like ‘come on’”. It’ okay Selena, we’ve been waiting for the call since The X Factor days.
We guess George still isn’t ready to come and get it. Sorry Sel. POP BITS OUT.
*Tense X Factor thudding music (you can also flick the lights in the room on and off if you would like to increase the tense mood)* The results are in for the MP! Top Ten.
You had your say and we have calculated (and recalculated) the votes and we can reveal that the MP! Top Ten is, as follows:
Selena Gomez- ‘Slow Down’ makes it’s first appearance in the MP! Top Ten in tenth place, closely followed by a new entry from The Saturdays, ‘Disco Love’, in at number 9. The number 8 spot is held by Nariana with their duet ‘Almost Is Never Enough’ whilst Union J’s ‘Carry You’ is still going strong at number 7. Miley Cyrus’ ‘Wrecking Ball smashes in at number 6 and another new entry, ‘R U Crazy?’ by Conor Maynard, takes fifth place.
The Wanted have moved up one place to number 4 from last week with ‘We Own The Night’ whilst Katy Perry’s ‘Roar’ holds on to her spot in third place. But who came out on top in MP! Top Ten. We can reveal it was EXTREMELY close with just two votes in the difference. The Vamps came in second with ‘Can We Dance’ and One Direction hold onto the top spot with ‘Best Song Ever’!
As we all know, Ed Sheeran is a very popular popstar, but it seems his popularity is growing as he is now becoming one of the popstar’s favourite popstars! Check the gallery below to see our favourite snaps of Ed hanging out with his celeb buds…
Here at MP!, we don’t always agree with the charts, like when The Wanted’s ‘We Own The Night’ didn’t make number 1 or when MKS’ ‘Flatline’ didn’t even make it into the Top 40. So, we’ve decided to make our very own top 10 and the best part is you decide,
to evict Makosi call and pick your favourite tracks to feature in our MP! Top Ten Playlist.
Through extensive pop research involving twerking studies, pop star nipple reactions and goosebump analysis, we have compiled a list of twenty of the best songs around (and even included some album tracks). You choose your 5 faves and then we add all the votes together to come up with our MP! Top Ten Playlist.
If there is a song that isn’t in our Top Ten poll, then just write it in the comment box and we’ll add it to our next one.
Voting is now closed. Check out The MP! Top Ten and if you have any suggestions for next week, leave them in the comment box below.
The ‘Come & Get It’ songstress has had to scrap her gigs in St. Petersburg and Moscow because the Russian government would not grant her permission to perform- now that you have some free time, Sel, feel free to pop around MP! Towers and bringing George too.
Although it hasn’t been confirmed, it looks pretty likely that her visa was declined due to Russia’s strict anti-gay laws and Selena’s popularity amongst the gay community. Why do you think her visa was declined? POP BITS OUT.
Whilst chewing on sticks of pepper for lunch today, we were getting very excited about Union J’s upcoming book – inventively named ‘Our Story’ – so we thought, it’s time to bring back… POP STAR VS A VEGETABLE… TA-DAH!
There are four members of Union J and also four different variations of peppers available. If we had to designate a different pepper colour to each member of Union J, we’d probably say…
Jaymi is the green pepper because green peppers are the strongest in flavour and Jaymi has a very strong voice. George is the yellow pepper as they are very sweet in flavour and we all know George is very sweet, the sweetest member of Union J. Possibly even the sweetest popstar of all time. Yes, ever sweeter than Baby Spice. Josh is the red pepper because red peppers are the hottest in flavour and let’s face it, Josh is the hottest member of Union J. JJ is the orange pepper because he looks good in whatever he wears… even an orange polo neck.
But Union J are better, sorry peppers!
Union J 1, Peppers 0
Union J currently have 1,132,432 followers on their official Twitter account and when you add the followers of their separate accounts together, you get the total of 285,261. Bringing their total number of followers to 1,417,693.
We searched “peppers” and “peppers appreciation society” on Facebook but only found groups for Dr Pepper and a dog, and none of those count.
Union J 1, Peppers 0
We have tweeted each individual member of Union J to ask them what they taste like and they did not reply. We are yet to taste Union J so we don’t currently have any idea what they taste like.
There are lots of different flavours to peppers and they taste very nice in a salad or a stir fry. Sorry Union J, maybe we’ll lick you if we interview you sometime.
Union J 0, Peppers 1
Union J were formed during last year’s The X Factor and have only released one single and although their debut album has not been released, they have sold out their very own theatre tour for later on this year.
Apparently peppers were discovered in 1532 and they’re on sale in basically every supermarket in the world and millions are (probably) sold each day. Although ‘Carry You’ made it to number 6 in the charts, it’s not enough for Union J to win this battle.
Union J 0, Peppers 1
We’re not too sure if peppers can have relationships with each other, if they could that’d be pretty cool, but it’s the Selena rumour that’s done it for us here guys!
Union J 1,Peppers 0
Popularity With Louis Walsh
Louis Walsh very obviously likes Union J as he mentored them during last year’s X Factor and even took to the trouble of learning their names.
We’ve asked Jeeves and even the Twittersphere but nobody knows if Louis Walsh also enjoys peppers. But he does like Jedward, so he probably will like peppers.
Union J 1, Peppers 1
Union J are currently in talks with Mattel to launch their own range of dolls and other merchandise such as jigsaw puzzles and board games to be launched in 2014.
However, plastic peppers have been made Christmas presents for kids as part of a re-make mini supermarket for years, so unfortunately for Union J, peppers have a lot more experience in this field.
Union J 0, Peppers 1
Not to be confused with…
Union J are compared to mega-boyband One Direction because a) They came from The X Factor and b) They both have a floppy haired singer, some people who aren’t too hot on pop could find this rather confusing.
The colourful vegetables that we are discussing today could be confused with the seasoning ground pepper. Ground pepper can ruin food if too much is used and makes us sneeze a lot. No thanks.
Union J 1, Peppers 0
Final Score – Union J 5, Peppers 4
Ooh, it was a close one but Union J have just pipped Peppers to the post and have become more successful in the Popstar Vs A Vegetable battle. Well done boys, we’ll send you a pack of Waitrose’s best pepper mix for you to demolish at your own will!
