Christina Aguilera says Justin Bieber should take time off. POP BITS.
POP BITS. Christina Aguilera would not be alone in noticing that Justin Bieber had rather a hard time whilst in touring the UK earlier this month. She is alone (or in a small club) in being qualified to give Justin advice on how to cope as a teenage superstar. She suggests that Justin take a little time away from music and his beloved Beliebers. “You learn as you get older to take moments for yourself, step away from the camera, re-inspire yourself as an artist, rejuvenate and refresh”.
After his antics in London many were quick to declare that Justin had become a bit of a diva, a far cry from the sweet, innocent boy we first met three years ago. But Christina thinks time away will keep Justin grounded, “I would tell Bieber, don’t let anything morph you or push you around or have you be something you’re not. I’ve always been really honest and true to my own roots and been really grounded, not letting myself stray too much.”
This may mean Biebz taking a much-deserved break after the conclusion of his ‘Believe’ world tour (which isn’t til August). But could we wait two years for a new album? POP BITS OUT.
Christina Aguilera – ‘Lotus’ album review!
5Comments
A year is a long time in pop, and it’s been over two since Christina Aguilera’s ‘Bionic’ hit the charts. In truth, it’s been almost ten since she was A Big Deal, but she’s one of the most enduringly interesting survivors of the teen-pop era, so when Sony invited us to their offices to listen to her latest album, ‘Lotus’, we were excited to hear what she’d been up to.
They said “see you at 1pm”. We said “great, we’ll be there”. Then they said “actually, can you make it 12.30pm?”. We said “yes, okay.” An exciting insight into our email inbox there, readers. Let’s listen to the album…
1. ‘Lotus Intro’
“This is the beginning” is a fitting lyric for an opening track, isn’t it? A choral riff heralds the rebirth of a very grown-up pop princess spouting on about emerging from pain, “broken pieces” and “never dying” over a heavy hip-hop beat. Christina resolves to “leave the past behind and say goodbye to the scared child inside”. Blimey. There are bongos too. A decent overture that sets the scene for what’s to come.
2. ‘Army of Me’
The first thing that springs to mind here is “ooh, this is all a bit Katy Perry”. Namely, the insistent 4/4 thud of the beat, reminiscent of the defiant ‘Part of Me’, and the lyrics and overall “mood” evocative of ‘Firework”s cardboard cutout inspiration. A reference closer to home would be Aggy’s own ‘Fighter’ – the words “wiser”, “stronger” and “fighter” all figure in the chorus. We quite like the line “there’s a thousand faces on me”, because it sounds like it might be supposed to be a bit rude. Single potential!
3. ‘Red Hot Kinda Love’
A pulsating radio-friendly “jam”, featuring the sound of a motorcycle vroom and the chorus hook “oh baby I’m burning up, you got that red hot kinda love” – oh Christina, you can get a cream for that! Not one of the strongest tracks on the record (but not at all bad. There’s just better to come!).

The Wanted vs Britney & Christina: Are they making too many enemies?
Comments
Yesterday The Wanted told a US radio station the story of when they supported Britney Spears on tour and were ordered to turn away while she passed them in the corridor. “We turned around and I faced a wall for about 10 seconds until she got really far away,” claimed Siva, before Jay hastily added that “When we actually met her person to person she was so down-to-earth”.
Today Britney’s rep has responded to the story with good humour, denying that the hallway incident ever happened and joking that “What’s even more interesting than the false allegations they made is the fact that they have claimed to be picked on by two female popstars in just a few days… Look out Lady GaGa – there are still three days left this week.” Yowzas!
Comments from fans of Christina, Britney and the boys themselves on various online message boards have been split, but everyone seems to have a strong opinion. Is it too soon in the band’s US career for them to start talking negatively about two of the world’s favourite pop queens? Are they getting themselves a bad reputation before they’ve even got going? Or are they just setting the world to rights, as only they know how?
Whether or not the Britney story is true or not is something we’ll probably never know for sure. Britney herself sure as hell won’t start speaking up on it any time soon. And it is pretty clear from what Jay said that they have nothing but admiration for her – it was her bouncers, not the lady herself, that allegedly told them to face a wall, after all. So whilst it all seems a bit blown out of proportion, we reckon the boys could do with toning down their famous honesty until they’re a bit more established in America. We love them for being straight-up with everyone, but if the American press get hold of any more quotes of them appearing to put someone else down, the backlash might not be worth it.

Christina Aguilera just wants to Make The World Move
Occasionally amazing popstar Christina Aguilera hasn’t exactly been a foutain of hits lately, but following her hugely successful Maroon 5 collaboration we’re fairly optimistic she’s back on track. One of the tunes on her upcoming seventh album will be a duet with Cee-Lo Green called ‘Make The World Move’, which she calls “fun, positive and full of life”. The album is out later this year and we have a feeling it’s going to be a good’un…

Rihanna working with “shock” guest star on ‘Birthday Cake’
Rihanna will be celebrating her 24th birthday next week, and instead of us lot pooling our cash together to get her a special present, she’s decided to drop her fans a gift instead. The brand new, extended version of ‘Birthday Cake’ (a fan favourite from latest effort Talk That Talk) will be unleashed on the masses next week – and as we know, there’s a special collaborator that’s been added.
With the help of some cryptic tweets, Rih-Rih previously hinted that Christina Aguilera might be the featured artist, but it’s since been revealed that it will definitely be a guy. And now the song’s producers claim that when the collaboration is released, it will leave her fans stunned!
“All I’m gonna say is stay tuned,” said Da Internz of the track, before hinting that a video will also surface, ”The visual has to go with it because everybody’s going to be like, ‘Oh my god!’”
Naturally, rumours are currently circulating that the mystery guest is former boyfriend Chris Brown, who previously pleaded guilty to assaulting the star – but we’ll believe it when we see it.
Listen to the old version of ‘Birthday Cake’ below.
Who do YOU want to see on the new version of 'Birthday Cake'?

Rihanna’s dirty collaboration, Kanye’s fashion plans, Coldplay’s Brit Awards duet and JLS’s “new jack swing” – gossip!
Brit Awards host James Corden has let slip that Coldplay frontman Chris Martin will be teaming up with Noel Gallagher at the ceremony in a few weeks. Noel Gallagher’s group High Flying Birds are just one of the several performers at the awards, taking place in London on February 21. Have our dreams of Coldplay teaming up with Rihanna for ‘Princess Of China’ been ruined already?
Speaking of the Brit Awards, nominees JLS have been dishing even more dirt on their new album. The group have been working on the record in the US alongside acclaimed producers Babyface and Rodney ‘Darkchild’ Jerkins and have apparently been working on “throwback 90′s new jack swing” – a far cry from the dancier stuff we’ve been hearing from them recently. Don’t forget to read our guide to the new JLS album for even more gossip.
As we revealed yesterday, Rihanna has been hinting at a brand new and exciting collaboration for her track ‘Birthday Cake’. Ri wants a “dirrrty” pop star for the collab, which many took as a hint that she was after Christina Aguilera – but Rihanna has since insisted that the guest star needs to be a dude. Who do you think she should enlist?
You may have noticed that a certain Mr West has been quiet of late, well now we know it’s all for good reason. The rapper has put music to one side for the moment and is currently hard at work on his fashion line. The new collection will be debuted at Paris Fashion Week, although his womenswear last year was met with mixed reviews. Maybe stick to the music ‘Ye?

Don’t Quote Me On That!
How come on Jeremy Kyle there’s always tests 2 see who the father is and never tests to see who’s the mum?
Wretch 32 is right guys, how can we be sure that the woman who carried the child in her womb for 9 months is REALLY the baby’s mother?!
I need somebody #DIRRRTY on my Birthday #CAKE ;) lol
Apparently this means Rihanna wants to add Christina Aguilera to the upcoming extended version of her song ‘Birthday Cake’, but our guess is that she’s just being filthy, as per usual.
I’m an old lady trapped inside a young woman’s body, which isn’t a bad thing
Well that explains everything. Suddenly Cher Lloyd makes perfect sense.
