Calvin Harris And Jessie J Teams Up. Pop Bits.
POP BITS. We’re surprised Calvin Harris has the time to be dating pop starlett, Rita Ora, with the amount of hits he’s churning out. The Scottish singer-songwriter has been named as the highest paid DJ in the world, which is no surpise as his latest album ’18 Months’ is packed to the brim with amazing pop tunes. Calvin took to his twitter today to announce Jessie J as the latest addition to the list of megastars he has worked with. This list includes Rihanna, Kelis, Ellie Goulding, Florence Welch, Ne-Yo and Example- pretty much a who’s who of amazing artists. We hope Rita doesn’t get the hump as she is quite attached to Mr. Harris and is known to be a bit feisty. Could we handle a Jessie J/ Rita Ora feud?
Jessie and Calvin’s song will feature on the Voice Coach’s upcoming album, along with her urban-pop smash, ‘Wild’. Details for the album are as scarce as her hair at the moment but we certainly have high hopes for it. POP BITS OUT.
Download or Ditch: Jessie J – ‘Wild’
Fresh from shaping the sound of tomorrow on The Voice, our favourite shaven-headed popstrel Jessie J has only gone and released a brand new single from her second album out on us! Excited! But is it the triumphant return of a true British popstar or the first stumbling signs of ‘difficult second album syndrome’?
Fortunately, we’re delighted to say that her single ‘Wild’ is a stuttering electropop delight that full of gritty urban-styled verses and an absolute skyscraper of a chorus that deserves to be played across both sides of the Atlantic at full blast. The guest features are pretty cool too – while US rapper dynamo Big Sean struts his stuff, it’s really the grimy guest feature of our favourite bonkers gentleman Dizzee Rascal who shines here, a nice return for him to the echelons of British pop.
Add all this to a stylish black and white video that shows off Jessie’s new hair (or lack thereof), her incredible pins and the swaggering grin-a-minute fun of Dizzee and Sean, and we’re some very happy campers! Jessie, it’s so nice to have you back in our earbuds once more!
Our verdict? Download all the way!

Lawson dress up as Jessie J. Because, well, just because. POP BITS.
POP BITS. As part of the Comic Relief festivities last Friday, Jessie J dared Lawson to perform a set with different instruments. And they did. Then it got weird. The boys decided to take it one step further and don rather figure-hugging leopard print catsuits and jet black wigs and perform a cover of ‘Price Tag’ in Cardiff dressed as Jessie J. Why, we hear you ask? Why not?
Of course, it was all in the name of charity and you can still donate to Comic Relief here. POP BITS OUT.
Jessie J to shave her head for Comic Relief. POP BITS.
POP BITS. As part of Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day fundraising Jessie J has promised (or threatened?) to shave off her hair. Who’s laughing now eh Jessie? She’s known for her extreme looks and kooky fashion sense, but is this a step too far for even Ms. J? We reckon if anyone can pull it off its our Jessie. But will she do it (like a dude) or will she chicken out? POP BITS OUT.

It’s another Maximum Pop success story. Congrats to the very lucky and patient MP!er who just got this hand-signed picture from glossy-haired pop singer Jessie J. 13-year old Stephanie sent her fanmail with a stamped, self-addressed envelope to our Jessie J fanmail address and 4 months later got the ‘Who You Are’ picture back with Jessie’s signature in gold pen. Classy. If you want to send your favourite popstar fanmail follow our guide here.

The chart race is on! The Saturdays, Jessie J, Demi Lovato & more…
Comment
With a string of big new pop tunes available for your downloading pleasure, let’s take a look at how they’re getting on after one day on sale… and how we reckon they’ll end up.
The Saturdays – ’30 Days’: Frankie, Mollie, Una, Rochelle and The One What Sings Good really need ’30 Days’ to do well, seeing as their last album On Your Radar and single ‘My Heart Takes Over’ performed worse than expected. The song is already in the Top 10 after a day on sale, and the EP is No. 1 on the iTunes album chart, so we reckon a Top 10 placement shouldn’t be too tricky to achieve. But given that The Sats’ sales usually tail off as the week goes on, we reckon around the No. 9 mark is a realistic prediction.
Demi Lovato – ‘Give Your Heart A Break’: Demi has only ever had 3 Top 40 singles, and we don’t think ‘Give Your Heart A Break’ will be her fourth. It’s amazing, but its lack of radio play and the fact it’s now eight months old don’t exactly spell chart glory. The EP is doing OK on the iTunes Album Chart, so – at best – a low-end Top 100 placement looks likely.
Scissor Sisters – ‘Only The Horses’: The track is currently in the iTunes Top 40 and a performance on The Voice tonight may well push it towards the Top 30. But is it just us who hasn’t really heard it around that much…?
Mark Ronson and Katy B – ‘Anywhere In The World’: This one has had a bit of airplay on TV ads, but other than that it hasn’t really made its mark yet. We think this’ll be a slow-burner, but for now an entry around the No. 50 barrier sounds about right.
Jessie J featuring David Guetta – ‘Laserlight’: Available on the Platinum Edition of Jessie’s album for the last few months, ‘Laserlight’ has already been in the Top 10 for a while, and we don’t think its official release today will make much of a difference to its chart journey. Even though a major climb looks unlikely, expect it to still be in the Top 10 next Sunday.
How do you reckon the new singles will get on? Leave your comments!
