Impatient Maroon 5 fans send ‘fake’ version of ‘Payphone’ into Top 10
It’s not uncommon for a “cover version” (translation: cheap rip-off) of a popular release to be made available by cash-hungry fakers, but usually when an artist or record label sees a so-called ‘tribute’ of their song scaling the iTunes charts, they rush-release the real version a few days early. For example, last week Flo Rida’s ‘Whistle’ was rushed forward in release schedules because a tacky version by an ‘artist’ listed as Can You Feel My had reached the Top 20 on iTunes. But this week it has officially crossed the line into Properly Bonkers.
A ‘tribute’ version of Maroon 5′s ‘Payphone’, not officially released for another two days has climbed all the way up to No. 5 on iTunes, and will probably be in the Top 10 when this week’s Official Charts are announced on Sunday. The proper Maroon 5 version has, strangely, NOT been released early in an effort to stop the greedy people at Precision Tunes from pocketing more cash off the actual band’s hard work, and will still be released on Sunday as planned. But the fact that the fake cover has even got as high as No. 5 on the online store begs the questions – why are they legal? Why are they eligible to chart? And, most bizarrely, who on Earth is downloading them?

Maroon 5 slow it down for new single ‘Pay Phone’
Maroon 5 had us cutting shapes for months on end with ‘Moves Like Jagger’, but their new tune ‘Pay Phone’ is almost a ballad in comparison. They’ve traded Christina Aguilera for rapper Wiz Khalifa, and it sounds like another radio-hogging smash-in-waiting to us. What do you think?

Don’t Miss: Parade return with ‘Throw It Up In The Air’
Last week we teased you with 34 seconds of Parade performing their brand new song ‘Throw It Up In The Air’ live on The Wanted’s The Code arena tour – and we’d like to formally apologise for getting you so excited and anxious to hear the full thing. To make it up to you all, here’s a video of the girls performing the ENTIRE thing. Warning: this video contains an amazing dance break.
Sounding like a chart ready hybrid of Maroon 5′s ‘Moves Like Jagger’, Britney Spears’ ‘Till The World Ends’ and many of Chris Brown’s recent hits, ‘Throw It Up In The Air’ is instantly infectious and makes this particular member of Team MP! wish he could whistle, so he could join in all the fun.

What do you think? Parade - Throw It Up In The Air, sh*t or hit?

Barack Obama’s Spotify playlist, Kanye & Jay-Z’s new video, Alesha Dixon’s Twitter hate and Adam Levine’s new record label – gossip!
Ever wanted to know what’s on Barack Obama’s iPod? Well we don’t have that, but we do have the next best thing. The US president has uploaded a 2012 Campaign playlist on Spotify which includes tracks from Florence And The Machine, No Doubt and U2 – there must be a mistake though because we can’t see Girls Aloud on there. Everyone loves Girls Aloud, right?
The rumour mill went into overdrive last night, claiming that Kanye West & Jay-Z were to play an impromptu gig in Shoreditch. Fans slowly gathered outside the high street station to be treated to a projection of the brand new ‘N****s In Paris’ video on a loop. If you were safe and sound at home, watching One Direction on Blue Peter, then reenact the moment by watching the video here on YouTube.
Alesha Dixon’s vocal talents have come into question by, wait for it, a Britain’s Got Talent reject! Auditionee Abbey Jordan wrote to the star on Twitter “I’m the girl out of ‘like mother like daughter’ at auditions today, before you slag of my mums singing? Listen to yourself! (sic)” Alesha stayed classy, leaving Abbey to move her hating on to David Walliams instead. How much we betting she’ll be back next year?
Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine has started up his own record label and has signed Matthew Morrison (better known as Will Schuester) as his first act. The Glee star will release his second album through the label and expressed his excitement at the signing, claiming that he and Adam shared a ‘vision’. We’ve had a vision of Adam Levine too – it looked more like this though.
